New Announcements and Deadlines

|
1Ls: Do you need to follow up on a pending job application to submit your transcript? Follow the instructions in the CDO Transcript Guide to create an unofficial transcript to send immediately or to order an official transcript for future applications and interviews.
Race and Indigeneity Requirement Survey: We welcome your feedback. See Dr. J’s 1/7 email for details and a link to the survey. Complete by Friday, January 23.
Spring Pro Bono Kickoff: Monday, January 12, 12:00pm, EDU 1111 (Overflow 1131): Bring your lunch for a 30-minute presentation on the best way to rank projects, timesheets and how best to navigate pro bono. There will be time for questions following the presentation.
2Ls: Halfway Done Party: Wednesday, January 14, 12:00pm: Join us in the courtyard as we celebrate the Class of 2027 being halfway done with law school. Cake will be served!
PILF Roll into the New Year: Thursday, January 15, 5:30pm - 7:00pm, Irvine Lanes: Join UC Irvine Law Alumni and students for a fun, casual night of bowling in support of public interest law students. Register here.
La Raza Mentorship Program Orientation: Tuesday, January 20, 12:00pm - 1:00pm, EDU 1111 or Zoom Link: Law Students interested in taking part of LLSA's La Raza Mentorship should attend the orientation session to discuss the timeline, responsibilities, and upcoming opportunities for involvement. Korea Law Center and the Korean Prosecutors Association: Pathways to Becoming a Criminal Prosecutor: Wednesday, January 21, 12:00pm - 1:00pm, EDU 1111: This panel discussion and mentoring clinic will feature a group of experienced Korean American prosecutors in various fields and offices in Southern California. You can expect to learn about the day-to-day work of prosecutors, the challenges and rewards of the profession, and internship opportunities that can help you get started in a prosecution career. 2Ls: 2026 Kentucky Department of Public Advocacy Career Fest: February 28, 2026, Louisville, KY: During the Career Fest, participants will have the opportunity to learn more about the KY DPA and interview with regional leaders from across the state. Early employment offers for positions beginning in August 2027 will be extended shortly after the event. Priority application deadline is January 15. Selected students will be invited to attend with all-expenses-paid.
SCHOLARSHIPS
USLAW NETWORK Law School Scholarship Program: Supports eligible law students who have financial need and a demonstrated commitment to serving their communities as they pursue their academic and professional goals. Each recipient will receive a $5,000 scholarship toward law school tuition and an invitation to attend the 2026 USLAW NETWORK Annual Client Conference in Boston, Massachusetts, in September. The program’s scholarship selection committee will select and recognize 12 recipients. A brief video about the scholarship program can be viewed here. Each applicant must submit a completed application and all requested support materials on or before March 20, 2026, to scholarship@uslaw.org.
2026 Dan Bradley Summer Fellowship: This fellowship is offered annually by the Legal Aid Association of California (LAAC) to support law students who want to spend their summer working at a LAAC member legal aid organization. LAAC will be offering four awards of up to $12,075 each for student who wants to pursue a career in public interest law and who are interested in spending their summer working on a rural or consumer rights issue. Please review the application along with its guidelines here: Dan Bradley Fellowship Application. All materials are due by Tuesday, March 31st.

The Limits of Executive Power: “Can the President Just Fire a Member of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors and What is the Potential Impact?”: January 22, 12:00pm – 1:00pm, EDU 1111: The UCI Law EDI Committee invites you to join us in this next discussion in our series. UC Irvine Economics Professor Gary Richardson is an expert in Economics and History and was the Founding Historian of the Federal Reserve System. As such he was cited on multiple occasions in amicus briefs filed in the Trump v. Cook litigation addressing the Executive Branch’s power to dismiss members of the Federal Reserve without oversight. Korea Law Center Research Fellow Open-House Lunch: Tuesday, January 27, 12:00pm, MPAA 430: This event is a great opportunity to meet our current student Research Fellows, learn more about the work that the Korea Law Center does and how to get involved. RSVP by Tuesday, January 20.
The Launch Initiative is a national nonprofit focused on empowering students throughout their academic and professional journey through mentorship, financial assistance, and access to a supportive community. They are currently recruiting current second year law students to join our upcoming cohort. Over the course of the one-year program, accepted students will receive one-on-one mentorship, interview coaching, access to guest speakers and professional networking opportunities. Apply here.
SCHOLARSHIPS & WRITING COMPETITIONS
Beverly Hills Bar Foundation Annual Rule of Law Writing Competition: BHBF is accepting submissions of law review articles written by law students and published during the past year. The winning author will receive a $2,500 scholarship and two authors will be given $500 honorable mention scholarships. Competition rules are detailed here. Submit your articles using this form by February 2.

1Ls: Summer Associate Hub IP Virtual Interview Program: January 30, 2026: This program is open to current 1Ls (Class of 2028) with a technical degree (based on USPTO Patent Bar eligibility) interested in practicing patent law and seeking summer associate openings for 1L Summer in 2026 and/or 2L Summer in 2027. Register here ASAP, as registration is on a rolling basis.

Continuing Education of the Bar (CEB) Academic Solutions: CEB, a nonprofit program of the University of California, is California’s leading provider of legal research and practice guidance. Through its AccessLaw program, law students receive free access to CEB’s full suite of resources, with an additional 18-months of access after graduation. CEB offers trusted practice guides, sample forms, workflows, and legal research tools across 30+ practice areas, developed with contributions from over 1,200 California attorneys and judges. These resources help bridge the gap between law school and practice, giving you the same tools attorneys rely on every day. Sign up with code IRX26 (*note that the code has been updated from the previous SLATE issue) to get started.
Know Your Rights: Refer to the information in this Know Your Rights guide provided by UCOP for immigrant legal services. Copies have been posted on the student bulletin boards within the Law School and pocket/wallet-sized cards are available for pickup in the Student Affairs and Student Services Suite (MPAA 210). The suite also has red cards available from the Immigrant Legal Resource Center.
Lost and Found: Welcome back! There are many items left-over from last semester in the Lost and Found (front desk of the Dean’s Suite). If you have misplaced an item (water bottles, glasses, glasses cases, rings, lunch bags, day-planner, etc.) please come take a look and you might find your item! Dean’s Suite hours are Monday – Friday, 8am to 5pm.
