Dean’s Pre-Law Grant Program: Information Session for Student Orgs: April 16, 12:00pm-1:00pm, EDU 1111: Join the admissions team for an information session discussing the opportunity for student organizations to receive funding to promote mentorship opportunities. Register by April 14.
1Ls: Mandatory 2L Orientation: May 11, 11:30am-3:00pm, DCE Yosemite Rooms: Save the date! The College of Labor and Employment Lawyers: 2026 Annual Law Student Writing Competition: First place receives $3,000, second place receives $1,000, and third place receives $500. First place will be a guest at the Annual Induction Dinner for recognition. Complete rules are available here. Submissions due by June 14 at 9:00pm.

3Ls: CDO: Mandatory Exit Career Counseling: Every graduate is required to complete “Exit Career Counseling” prior to picking up commencement regalia. See Dean Deol’s 4/1 email for more information. Surveys are due by April 10.
1Ls: Core Clinic Preference Survey: The survey is now open. See Debi Gloria’s 4/2 email for more information. Submissions are due by April 15 at 5:00pm.
2026 Moot Court Competition Finals: April 10, 3:00pm-5:00pm, UC Irvine Student Center’s Crystal Cove Auditorium: Join us for our annual Moot Court Finals, where two UC Irvine Law students will present oral arguments to a panel of distinguished federal judges. RSVP as soon as possible to attend.
Law Review: Write-On Workshop: April 15, 12:15pm-1:00pm, EDU 1111 and EDU 1131: This information session will provide an overview of Law Review, logistics, and preparation for the Write-On process. See Dr. J’s 4/2 email for more information. RSVP by April 13 at 5:00pm.
1Ls: 2027 2L Summer Associate Spring Applications: Some Biglaw firms are opening a second application window in May for students to apply after receiving their spring semester grades. The CDO will share a spreadsheet listing these applications in LEO. Look for an announcement on the LEO home page after final exams.
Symposium on Secrecy and Transparency in Civil Litigation: May 1-2, Stanford Law School: This symposium will explore the legal, institutional, and normative dimensions of secrecy and transparency in the civil justice system. The symposium is free to law students, and virtual options are available upon registration. Register to attend this event.

New York State Bar Association Committee on Animals and the Law: 2026 Student Writing Competition: First place receives $1,000 and a certificate of achievement, second place receives $500 and a certificate of achievement, and third and fourth places receive a certificate of recognition. Submit requirements to lfaustel@nysba.org by July 6.
California Lawyers Association: Scholarships, Writing Competitions, and Fellowships: The California Lawyers Association has a list of scholarships, writing competitions, and fellowships with various deadlines. Know Your Rights: Refer to the information in this Know Your Rights guide provided by UCOP for immigrant legal services. Copies have been posted on the student bulletin boards within the Law School and pocket/wallet-sized cards are available for pickup in the Student Affairs and Student Services Suite (MPAA 210). The suite also has red cards available from the Immigrant Legal Resource Center.
