Rising 2Ls: Biglaw 2027 Summer Associate Hiring: The CDO has provided a list of law firms that either opened applications earlier this year, recently opened their application for the first time, or have opened or are scheduled to open a second application to allow students to apply with two semesters of grades. California Lawyers Association (CLA): Student Reporter Scholarship: June 12-13, VEA Newport Beach, A Marriott Resort & Spa: The CLA is seeking current law students to serve as Student Reporters for the Solo Small Firm Summit. Student reporters will attend the conference, take and post photographs on their own and CLA social media, and author a short recap article after the summit. Student Reporters will receive a complimentary conference registration, learn and network from experienced attorneys and legal professionals, have an opportunity to show their writing and speaking skills, and receive mentorship and coaching in the preparation, writing, and editing processes. Submit an up-to-date resume, a 2-5 page writing sample, and a 150-300 word statement of interest by email to newlawyers@calawyers.org. You must be a member of CLA to be considered. Membership in CLA is free for law students. Applications are considered on a rolling basis.

Equal Justice Works: Public Interest Summer Primer: May 27-May 28, Virtual: This primer is designed to help students prepare for summer legal internships and will bring together practitioners and experts from the legal field for eight interactive sessions on topics ranging from trauma-informed lawyering to client interactions to the technology landscape for public interest legal practice. National Plaintiffs' Law Association Summer 2026 Job Fair: June 29-July 1, Virtual: This fair serves as a meaningful national hiring pipeline for plaintiff-side employers and is specifically designed for 2L summer positions for Summer 2027 and post-graduate opportunities. 2026-2027 Socio-Legal Studies Workshops and Book Talks | Call for Speakers: This series focuses primarily on works-in-progress and offers a unique opportunity to share projects, get feedback, and make connections within and beyond the UC Irvine campus. If you would like to present a work in progress or a completed book, books can be published recently (2025-) or be due to publish in 2026-27. Submit your proposal by May 24.
Federal Bar Association: Annual Civil Practice Seminar: Privilege Pitfalls: Navigating a New Risk Landscape: May 19, 6:00pm-7:30pm, DCE Yosemite Room: This panel will explore the latest trends and risks, including the Ninth Circuit’s approach to dual-purpose communications, AI tools, messaging platforms, preservation failures, overbroad privilege assertions, and selective waiver. Know Your Rights: Refer to the information in this Know Your Rights guide provided by UCOP for immigrant legal services. Copies have been posted on the student bulletin boards within the Law School and pocket/wallet-sized cards are available for pickup in the Student Affairs and Student Services Suite (MPAA 210). The suite also has red cards available from the Immigrant Legal Resource Center.
