UC Irvine Law Summer Social: June 30, 6:00pm – 8:00pm, Hangar 24:
The UC Irvine Law Alumni Association (LAA) and the UC Irvine Anteaters in Law (AiL) Alumni Chapter invite you to a casual, after-work networking social in Orange County. RSVP here.

Virginia Law Review Essay Competition: The Virginia Law Review is hosting an essay competition open to J.D. students nation-wide centered on “Lived Experience and the Law.” The winning student will receive a $2,000 cash prize and a $5,000 grant to put towards an organization or project that intersects with their article topic. Their article will also be published in Virginia Law Review OnlineAll pieces must be submitted by January 7, 2027, at 11:59 p.m. 

Announcement Reminders

2026 Disability Rights Now Scholarship: One $5,000.00 scholarship open to current California law school students who have demonstrated a commitment or interest in disability rights and inclusion in the legal industry. The mission of DRN is to address the lack of opportunities for people with disabilities in the legal profession. Apply by September 1.

Rising 2Ls: Peggy Browning Fund 2027 First Round Fellowship Positions: Applications are now open for Summer 2027. The first-round application deadline is September 30 and offers will be extended on a rolling basis starting on July 31, 2026, and will last throughout August & September. Another round with more organizations will start in early November.

Rising 2Ls: Biglaw 2027 Summer Associate Hiring: The CDO continues to update the list of law firms that have open applications or are scheduled to open a second application to allow students to apply with two semesters of grades. Note: Cooley opened its application this week and the firm is recruiting for the following offices and practice areas. Cooley asks that candidates apply to only one office and one practice group.

November MPRE: November 12 or 13: If you plan to apply for accommodations for the November exam administrations you should submit your application and your supporting documentation by July 30. Visit the MPRE registration website for more information about signing up for the exam. The deadline to register for these dates is September 17.

2026 - 2027 SCCLA Law Student Representative: SCCLA (Southern California Chinese Lawyers Association) Law Student Representatives assist with organizing, publicizing, and volunteering at SCCLA events, including the annual installation banquet; attending monthly board meetings; enhancing law student participation with SCCLA; and other projects with the Board. Apply by June 30 at 5pm.

2026 SCCLA Mentorship Program: This program is designed to foster meaningful connections and support the next generation of AAPI legal professionals through mentorship, guidance, and community. Participants will join small mentorship groups with opportunities to both learn from and support one another across different stages of their legal careers. Apply by July 31.

Know Your RightsRefer to the information in this Know Your Rights guide provided by UCOP for immigrant legal services. Copies have been posted on the student bulletin boards within the Law School and pocket/wallet-sized cards are available for pickup in the Student Affairs and Student Services Suite (MPAA 210).  The suite also has red cards available from the Immigrant Legal Resource Center.
