Academic Skills Program
UCI Law’s Academic Skills Program (ASP) is a resource for all students seeking to maximize their academic success. From identifying the keys to effective class preparation, to solidifying legal analysis and legal writing skills, to demystifying the bar exam, ASP provides critical skills instruction to help students excel in all stages of their legal education.
ASP Programming:
- Workshops and advising for all students on general law school academic skills, such as developing an effective study plan, critical reading, note-taking, rule identification and deconstruction, course outlining, successful exam preparation, self-assessment to improve exam performance, and effective learning strategies (including time management);
- Individual 1:1 Academic Skills Consultation;
- Upper-division courses focused on developing legal analysis and legal writing skills;
- Upper-division courses on bar preparation;
- Advising and coaching for all students and graduates on bar preparation, including workshops on strategies for excelling in the written and MBE portions of the bar exam and numerous opportunities for individual feedback on practice bar essays and performance tests; and
- ASP Canvas pages filled with resources for all of your academic skill and bar preparation needs!
