Meet Jackie:
Hello! My name is Jackie, and I'm a second year student here at UC Irvine Law. As the first in my family to go to law school, I was scared, confused, and anxious over where to begin my legal career. Something about UC Irvine just clicked, and I have loved every moment of being here. The school offers a wide array of opportunities to gain practical, hands-on experience through its curriculum, allowing you to get a real sense of what it's actually like to be a lawyer.
Since starting at UC Irvine, I have been actively involved in student organizations such as the Asian Pacific American Law Students Association, where I serve as the Academic Chair, and the Business Law Society. I am also currently a Research Fellow for Lawyering Skills and a Community Fellow Mentor to 1Ls. I was also a pro bono volunteer with the Permanency Project, where I assisted an asylee with their application for permanent residency. This past summer I externed for a judge in federal district court, where I got to draft judicial orders, attend civil and criminal hearings, along with trials, and really gain a deeper understanding of the federal judiciary.
I'm excited to continue my education here and share with you why it is that I chose UC Irvine. The community here is unmatched--from peers to faculty, everyone is welcoming, approachable, and genuinely invested in helping you succeed!
Outside of law school, I enjoy going to the gym, baking, and watching basketball. (I actually started a law school fantasy league!)
