Meet Sophie:
Hi! I'm Sophie, a 1L who graduated from Mizzou in 2023. As a first-gen law student, I wasn't entirely sure law school was right for me, so I took some time before applying to law school to work as a court clerk. When I visited UC Irvine during Admitted Students Weekend, I realized not only could I fit in and receive a nationally recognized and cutting edge legal education, but I also would flourish as I learn here.
While I grew up in St. Louis, Missouri, I participated in a wide variety of activism and direct action, which led to my interest in using the law to help people who traditionally have less access to affordable legal services. UC Irvine's holistic legal education fulfilled my goals to gain practical experience under the supervision of amazing lawyers, and to continue to meaningfully engage with my community. During my 1L Fall semester, I volunteered with Saturday Academy of Law and SSI Clinic. For my 1L Spring semester, I am excited to dive into SSI Clinic again and also participate in SoCal Chinese Lawyers Association Legal Clinic.
In my free time outside of studying, I do birding, nature photography, and piano. I am thrilled not only to assuage any concerns and answer questions about my UC Irvine 1L experience, but also to learn about you!
