Meet Nicholas:
We likely haven't met yet but I'm looking forward to it. I'm a first-generation law student from North County San Diego and prior to law school, I spent six years studying biochemistry. In the course of my studies, I came to realize the need for diverse backgrounds in the legal profession, both in one's education and in their personal experiences. Throughout my time at UC Irvine Law thus far, I’ve had the privilege to learn both how to critically examine our system of jurisprudence and the skills necessary to improve it.

Making the switch from STEM to the law, I felt unsure of myself, with no other lawyers in my family, and when I arrived at orientation, I wasn't sure I was making the right step. But from the moment I stepped foot on campus, the staff, faculty, and student body have made me feel at home. Since then, I’ve developed a passion for intellectual property because it allows me to combine my interests in science and law while fighting for the innovators ad creators that are shaping our collective future. At UC Irvine Law, our Intellectual Property, Arts, and Technology Clinic gives students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in IP law, and I’m excited to get involved this coming spring.

In my free time, I've gotten involved in a number of campus extracurriculars, from affinity groups like BLSA and MESALSA to pro bono work with CLA SoCal and the Saturday Academy of Law, and I enjoy hiking, cooking, badminton, racquetball, and squash. This past summer, I had the truly life-changing opportunity to extern at the Orange County Superior Court, an experience I cannot recommend enough. If any of that sounds remotely interesting to you, please feel free to reach out (that’s literally what we’re here for).
