Legal Education: The State of the Art

Inaugural Conference of the Center for Empirical Research on the Legal Profession
June 2, 2017
UC Irvine School of Law

The Center’s inaugural conference convened leading scholars to assess the current state of legal education. Research presented at this conference addressed questions such as: Who seeks admission to law school, and to what extent are law schools attracting the “best and brightest” undergraduates? What do we know about law school debt and the return on investment in legal education? What factors influence law students’ post-graduation employment decisions? What are the latest findings of the LSSSE survey on legal education and the law student experience? What measures have proven effective in improving students’ prospects of succeeding in law school and passing the bar? What are the latest findings from the After the JD research on lawyers’ careers?
