Policy on Posting Printed Materials on School of Law Bulletin Boards

The bulletin boards throughout the law school are limited public fora. 

There are 2 types of bulletin boards within the Law School:

  • EVENT bulletin boards – limited to the promotion of events targeted toward the UC Irvine law school community.
  • STUDENT bulletin boards – limited to programs and materials targeted toward the UC Irvine law school community.

The following regulations apply to all bulletin boards:

  1. All postings must adhere to University policies, including those regarding alcohol (see UC Irvine’s Administrative Policies and Procedures § 900-13).
  2. All printed materials, both those written in English and those written in another language, must clearly show the name of the sponsoring person or organization in English.
  3. The Law School reserves the right to remove vendor information at any time for any reason.
  4. Posting with glue is expressly prohibited.
  5. Only one poster or flyer per event per posting area is allowed. No printed materials may exceed 11x14 inches.
  6. Posting on top of or removing announcements that are current and legally posted is a violation of these regulations.
  7. Postings may not violate federal, state, local laws or policies regulating or related to unprotected speech, including but not limited to unlawful targeted harassment.
  8. All materials will be removed from the bulletin boards after the last day of instruction for the current academic semester.

The following regulations apply to EVENT bulletin boards:

  1. The EVENT bulletin boards throughout the Law School are fora hosted by the School of Law for postings that promote events targeted toward the UC Irvine law school community.
  2. University students, faculty, staff, Registered Campus Organizations, and University units may post printed materials on these bulletin boards to promote UCI or UCI Law events.
  3. Law School approved vendors and recognized community partners, who have an established relationship, agreement or contract with the law school, may post printed materials only for events on these bulletin boards consistent with that relationship, agreement or contract.
  4. All printed materials for an event can be posted 3 weeks prior to the event and must be removed by the sponsoring individual or organization within 48 hours after the event or program.

The following regulations apply to STUDENT bulletin boards:

  1. The STUDENT bulletin boards throughout the Law School are fora hosted by the School of Law for postings that promote programs and materials targeted toward the UC Irvine law school community.
  2. University students, faculty, staff, Registered Campus Organizations, and University units may post printed materials targeted toward the UC Irvine law school community on these bulletin boards.
  3. Law School approved vendors and recognized community partners, who have an established relationship, agreement or contract with the law school, may post printed materials on these bulletin boards consistent with that relationship, agreement or contract.
  4. All printed materials must have a posting date and can be posted for a maximum of 2 weeks.

Locations of EVENT bulletin boards throughout the Law School:

  • Education 1st floor – in the foyer outside of the EDU 1111 classroom
  • LAW 1st floor – in the foyer by the elevator
  • LAW 3rd floor – in the foyer by the elevator and in the hallway near the restroom
  • LAW 4th floor – in the foyer by the elevator and in the hallway near the restroom

Locations of STUDENT bulletin boards throughout the Law School:

  • LAW 2nd floor – in the foyer near the Law Library entrance
  • MPAA 4th floor – in the student lounge

If any posting violates any of these regulations, the School of Law will remove the printed material.
