Jeffrey Wachs, UCI Law ’12, to be Honored with Distinguished Alumni Award at Annual Lauds & Laurels Event
IRVINE, Calif. (Oct. 10, 2023) — The University of California, Irvine School of Law (UCI Law) is delighted to announce that the UCI Alumni Association will present Jeffrey Wachs, UCI Law ’12, with the Distinguished Alumni Award at the Lauds & Laurels ceremony on October 26 at the Hyatt Regency Irvine. The Lauds & Laurels awards recognize outstanding UCI alumni for their service to the community, professional excellence and campus involvement.
A graduate of UCI Law’s inaugural class, Wachs currently serves as principal counsel of business and legal affairs at Netflix. Prior to that, he was vice president of business and legal affairs at Lakeshore Entertainment. He also practiced as an entertainment and media associate at Sheppard Mullin Richter & Hampton LLP and a litigation associate at O'Melveny & Myers LLP. Before entering law school, Wachs worked as a screenwriter and agent trainee at the William Morris Agency and as an internet content editor.
Wachs is actively engaged at UCI Law and in the broader legal community. He and his wife, fellow Anteater Hannah Wachs (MAT ’11), have been longtime supporters of UCI Law, including by providing matching gift funds to encourage alumni gifts during UCI Law's Giving Day campaigns. Wachs served as the 2014 president of the UCI Law Alumni Association and is currently a member of UCI Law's Dean's Circle Executive Committee. Outside of UCI Law, from 2013-2015 Wachs served as a member, then as a co-chair of the Anti-Defamation League’s Glass Leadership Institute.

Celebrating its 52nd year, Lauds & Laurels is UCI’s oldest campus tradition, recognizing outstanding individuals for their service to the community, professional excellence and campus involvement. The event highlights exceptional individuals, but also promotes the university’s and the UCI Alumni Association’s role in inspiring and assisting the next generation of alumni — an “Anteaters for Anteaters” movement. Net proceeds from the Lauds & Laurels ceremony benefit the UCI Alumni Association Endowed Scholarship Fund.
