Commenting Guidelines for UC Irvine School of Law Social Media Channels

We encourage comments that are consistent with the UC Irvine Social Media Guidelines. We discourage and may remove comments that are off-topic, use ethnic or racial slurs, contain hateful speech, make personal attacksor use abusive language. Comments involving obscenity, libel, phishing, or spamming may be removed. We may also remove comments that are threatening and obscene, contain commercial solicitations, or make political endorsements.  Additional details are contained below. 

UC Irvine School of Law reserves the right to block an account or remove a post that is noncompliant with UC Irvine policies or commenting guidelines.

Comments may be turned off (and would remain off) on UC Irvine School of Law social media posts for any of the following reasons:

  • The purpose of the post is informational in nature and it is also publicly posted on other UC Irvine communication channels, such as the UC Irvine School of Law Media Center.
  • The volume of comments are sufficiently high that reviewing comments for compliance with Commenting Guidelines becomes unmanageable for page administrators to keep up.  
  • The subject of the post pertains to a sensitive topic (e.g., death of a student out of respect to the student’s family or next of kin).
