*The University of California requires all students to have major medical health insurance as a non-academic condition of enrollment. All law students are automatically enrolled in the UC Graduate Student Health Insurance Plan (GSHIP), and the premium for this insurance is assessed each term on the law student's registration fee statement. Visit the UCI Student Health Services webpage for detailed information about GSHIP. If you are interested in waiving out of GSHIP for the 2025-2026 academic year, the waiver request period is listed on the SHC webpage. If approved, the waiver is in effect for the current term and the remainder of the 2025-2026 academic year. A new waiver request must be submitted at the beginning of each academic year.

In addition to the fall 2025 GSHIP premium, students in the LL.M. degree program are also required to pay prorated GSHIP premiums. Early start total prorated premiums are $2,813.94.

** The UC Graduate and Professional Council (UCGPC) fee is a non-mandatory fee that graduate students are assessed during the fall and spring terms to support the systemwide UCGPC. Students may elect to opt out and once the opt-out is elected students will not be charged the fee unless they change their election for a later term.

Detailed information about tuition and fees is available through the UCI Registrar's Office.

Veterans’ Educational Benefits

If you are or will be utilizing veterans’ educational benefits to fund your degree, contact the School Certifying Official (SCO) for information regarding whether the overall program fee is covered or includes fees that are not covered.

State of California Disclosure: Federal student loans are available to most students regardless of income and provide a range of repayment options including some income-based repayment plans and loan-forgiveness benefits, which other education loans are not required to provide.

Financial Aid

Students are primarily responsible for funding their own LL.M. degrees. Financial aid funds offered by the Law School are extremely limited. Partial scholarships based on merit may be offered to a few very outstanding LL.M. applicants each year.  Limited partial scholarships may also be available to qualified LL.M. applicants from less developed countries. There is no process for applying for these scholarships. If you are offered a scholarship, this information will be included in your admission offer.

Applicants are encouraged to research and apply for outside scholarships to help defray the cost of attending the LL.M. program. Below is information we have gathered about possible funding sources. This list is not exhaustive, and we strongly encourage applicants to conduct their own research and explore funding in their home countries.

Please note that the outside funding organizations listed below are neither affiliated with nor endorsed by UCI School of Law.
